Corporate Human Rights Benchmark: Key Findings 2017

Who’s behind it? – Corporate Human Rights Benchmark (2017)

How can it help? – The CHRB’s first ranking of companies is a two-year piece of work by a coalition of NGOs and investors, including BHRRC, IHRB, and Aviva Investors that measures the human right impact of 98 leading companies from the agricultural products, apparel, and extractive sectors. The ranking assesses companies across six themes: governance and policies, embedding respect and human rights due diligence, remedies and grievance mechanisms, company human rights practices, responses to serious allegations, and transparency.

Even for companies not curently included in the benchmark, this piece of work, and its accopanying methodology document, represent a useful resource for helping companies to better understand the standards against which their human rights performance is likely to be assessed by stakeholders, while also highlighting best practice.
