The Commodity Trading Sector Guidance on Implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights

Who’s behind it? – Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) – Directorate of Political Affairs (2018)

How can it help? – This Guidance is intended to help representatives of commodity trading firms to implement the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) in their company systems and cultures. It also provides a tool for the sector as a whole in developing a shared practice of responsible trading consistent with international standards relevant for the respect of human rights. It was jointly elaborated by companies from the sector, NGOs and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) – Directorate of Political Affairs.
